The Challenge. The PTFA needed a fresh, transparent approach to community engagement, stronger parent participation, and a sustainable structure for future committees. Communication processes were unclear, and opportunities to empower pupils and volunteers weren’t fully realised.
The Approach. Introduced human-centred design and co-creation to reimagine engagement, focusing on accessibility, inclusion, and sustainability. Key initiatives included:
Community-Led Insights – Designed and launched a survey with 214 visits and 61 responses, shaping PTFA priorities for 2023.
Revitalising SKPS Voices – Transformed a neglected initiative into a collaborative model for parents, carers, and pupils.
D&D - Drop in & Discuss – Created a free, weekly after-school club using Design Thinking to co-design school awareness and fundraising activities.
The Impact:
✔ Empowered Student & Parent Engagement – Strengthened pupil involvement in leadership and community initiatives.
✔ Sustainable Growth & Accessibility – Built a modern website (skpsptfa.com), improving digital accessibility and transparency.
✔ Stronger Volunteer Network – Recruited 25+ micro-volunteers, increasing capacity for fundraising events.
✔ Financial Impact – Enabled the PTFA to raise £4,000+ in 12 months, directly funding student enrichment.
✔ Improved Communication & Participation – Boosted engagement by 60%, enhancing event turnout through digital accessibility.
Client feedback: "Thank you for your incredible drive to get this PTFA back up off the ground! Without your commitment we would not be at this point so quickly." - PTFA Chair, Caroline Callaway
